we present our 18th subscription season, Texas Camerata is proud
to continue our tradition of presenting unparalleled historical
performances featuring the rich and varied repertoire of the Baroque
and Classical periods. The 2008-09 series opens with a dazzling
concert of music for the Baroque violin. Internationally renowned
violinist Cynthia Roberts will be joined by Texas Camerata Artistic
Director Kristin Van Cleve, and other baroque violinists from
the Dallas- Fort Worth area for a program of compelling and exciting
music for strings. We continue the season with a concert of Baroque
cantatas (featuring BWV 9 & 77 by Bach) that includes a brilliant
array of guest vocalists: Camille King, soprano, Scot Cameron,
alto, Derek Chester, tenor and Burr Phillips, bass. Don't miss
our January 2009 concert celebrating the life of Henry Purcell
and featuring the gifted countertenor Ryland Angel, followed by
a program of French and French-inspired music in April, including
Michel Corrette's "Le Phenix," a concerto for 3 bassoons!
From the monumental
compositions of Bach and Handel to the intimate chamber works
of composers such as Couperin and Rameau, each concert invites
you to experience beautiful music on period instruments, with
the aesthetic the composers themselves intended.
